Andrea Sisler and her husband already had two biological children when Andrea’s husband came home one day and out of the blue said, “ok I am ready to adopt.” Adoption had been a long time dream of Andrea’s so this was exciting news. The excitement went up and down however as life transitions brought obstacles and challenges.
“If you visualize it being real, the universe will provide whatever it is you want.”
Marriages change through out the years as do parent child relationships. What you are able to give your first child may be different from what you are able to give your fourth child. As the family evolves and each person grows there are so many things to be grateful for, even the hard times.
After raising two sets of children Andrea feels confident that the struggles she went through as a child, teen, and young adult were to equip her with the tools her children would need to get through their experiences. Andrea shares the intimate details of her struggle with school and the best marriage advice she ever received.
Today’s Love and Money idea:
What are the takeaways?
- Marriage can take money shapes and forms and can evolve and change over the life of a marriage. Each partner could endure pain but there is peace on the other side of pain.
- When adoption is an option there are money things to consider. The financial investment, the patience, the amount of compassion, and the learning curve that children bring.
- All children, biological or not, should be parented differently. Not as a way to show favoritism, but just to truly connect with each child as an individual.
